Project Description

Community Facility – attached to multifamily housing

The Rockwood Building was developed to respond to the many challenges facing one of the most diverse and economically distressed areas in all of Multnomah County. Rockwood brings together 47 new permanent rental units for individuals and families, with a 25,400 SF Multi-Service Center that houses eight different nonprofit service providers under one roof. The mixed-use facility now provides permanent housing to formerly homeless veterans and other families as well as homeless prevention, housing and employment services, early childhood education, outpatient medical and referral services, alcohol/drug and mental health services, meal programs for seniors and after school programs for low income children. The National Community Development Association in Washington, D.C. honored Human Solutions for its “exemplary use of Community Development Block Grant funds which address the needs of families, homes and neighborhoods.”
