Community Facility – Combined YMCA and YWCA

This project marks the first ever co-location of a YMCA and YWCA under one roof. Both nonprofit organizations needed new facilities and chose to collaborate in order to maximize their collective fundraising capacity and efficiency in development and long-term operations. The result is a stunning new 80,000 SF facility that includes traditional YMCA recreational facilities – a fitness center, gymnasium and natatorium, along with administrative office space for both YM and YWCA, community meeting rooms, computer labs for youth and adults, childcare, supportive services and a clothing bank (Our Sisters Closet) for women rebuilding their careers. As part of the financing, the two organizations combined their capital campaigns to attract federal New Markets Tax Credit investment to round out the project’s financing.
